For sale is a VW Golf GTi Mk 2 1986. 2 door. One owner only. It was imported from the UK to Cyprus in 2006 when I moved to Cyprus and is registered in Cyprus. One owner since new. A great opportunity to own one of the classics if you are prepared to do some work. Asking price for this one owner rarely available car is €1,800.
The car failed its MOT in 2019 and has been off the road since then. Approx Kms 280,000. One of the fail points was leaking fuel.
The engine will turn but the car is not driveable and will need to be collected by a vehicle with a winch. Work needs to be done on the vehicle to make it roadworthy.
Mechanical work
New brake pipes and hoses
New fuel accumulator and possibly fuel lines
Parking brake on preventing rear wheels from turning – handbrake free
Engine will turn but there is an oil leak from under oil filter area
Starts well but occasionally, when it does not, it needs the fuel pump relay to be reseated and pressed in whilst turning the key - could do with a new relay block I think
Body Work
New tailgate required
Scuttle panel rhs repaired with filler
Surface rust in many areas
Left front headlight not fitted awaiting headlight adjusting kit (headlamp in boot)
Interior
Headlining to be refitted
A little stitching on one of the seats
Needs 4 new tyres and a battery but the jacking kit and spare wheel are both present and original.
