The sculpture is hand painted with genuine realism. Underglaze blue mark of Karl Ens on the bottom, the famous mill. Also in the test is the model number.

Anton Bueschelberger came from a family of artists. His father Georg Friedrich Christian Büschelberger was already a sculptor. In 1870 the Eger family moved to Neuses near Coburg. After attending the Technical School of Ceramics in Teplice, Anton Büschelberger finally studied painting in Munich. In 1899 and 1900 he worked in the arts and crafts workshops of Schumacher & Co. in Osterode am Harz.

He then set up his own business in Dresden and opened a studio there. In August 1899 he married Anna Seibt of Teplitz-Schönau. This marriage produced four sons, including Friedrich Büschelberger, who imitated his father and also became a sculptor.

The focus of his work was on realistic animal sculptures, which he often cast in bronze at the Kraas foundry in Berlin. He received templates for animal sculptures from the Dresden Zoo, where he filled numerous sketchbooks. For many years, Büschelberger also worked as a freelancer at the porcelain factory of Friedrich Karl Enns in Rudolstadt-Volkstedt, Thuringia. This cooperation ended in 1931, when the global economic crisis hit the manufactory.

The artist's paintings are also known.

After his death in 1934, Anton Büschelberger found his final resting place at the Johannisfriedhof in Dresden.
