Opishnia is a place, a small town in the Poltava region.
From time immemorial, information has come about the intensive development of pottery in the territory of the town of Opishnia.
According to written sources, it was first mentioned in the XII century.
At the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century, about 1000 potters worked in the town, whose products were exported to many countries of the world.
Painted crockery was in great demand. They paid twice, or even three times more for it than for any other. Oposhnyansky craftsmen's products could be found in the most remote southern provinces of Russia, where they were delivered in exchange for salt and fish, and where Opishnya was called the "capital of Ukrainian pottery"
