Πρόκειται για αλωνιστική συσκευή.
Το αλώνισμα γινόταν με τη δουκάνη (βουκάνη), που ήταν ένα επίπεδο ξύλο, ανυψωμένο στο μπροστινό του μέρος. Είχε πάχος 5-10 εκ., μήκος 2μ. περίπου και πλάτος 1μ. περίπου. Αυτό το ξύλο, που ήταν αρκετά βαρύ, στο κάτω μέρος του είχε σφηνωμένες πολλές μικρές κοφτερές σκληρές πέτρες (αθκιάτζια), για να αλέθουν κατά κάποιο τρόπο τα δεμάτια.
Τη δουκάνη την έσερναν συνήθως δυο βόδια ή δυο μούλες. Πάνω στη δουκάνη καθόταν ένα πρόσωπο που οδηγούσε το ζευγάρι, ώστε να περιφέρεται ομοιόμορφα σ' όλο τον χώρο του αλωνιού.
