Yuxian paper-cutting is a traditional hand-cut paper-cutting technique in Yuxian County, Hebei Province. In 2006, it was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. Yuxian paper-cut originated in the Ming Dynasty. After several generations of inheritance and transformation, Yuxian paper-cut is characterized by coloring first and then carving the paper. Its aesthetics are unique, its colors are gorgeous, and its knife work is exquisite. Paper-cuts in Yuxian County are very complex, with more than 20 steps from design to completion. Design, engraving and dyeing are the three main parts, with one ring connecting the other.
Yuxian paper-cut has a wide range of themes and far-reaching significance.
