KUMON is the world largest international after school educational network founded by a Japanese educator Toru Kumon in 1958. At present KUMON has its centres in more than 60 countries around the world where it offers its highly successful and proven method of teaching mathematics and reading, primarily to young students.
In 2025 KUMON will be opening its first centre Limassol and is currently seeking to fill a part-time teaching assistant position.
Qualifications required is a degree in Primary Education from a Cyprus or Greek State University.
The role will be to assist the owner of the centre and, following the training provided to you by KUMON, tutor children of between 5 to 12 years old several hours a week. It is a very rewarding role where you will help students learn new skills and watch them thrive. Keeping the students focused on their work in a positive and enthusiastic environment is key. The right candidates must be reliable and have flexibility to arrange their time during the week. Must be able to work three to four days a week between 3:00pm and 6:00pm initially.
The Appointment requires attendance at a 1-week Athens-based training course in January 2025. The training will be fully paid (travel and hotel). In addition, there will be a one-week online training course in February 2025.
This starting position will give the right candidate a unique opportunity to join the KUMON world of education as a part-time assistant and grow to a full-time instructor and partner in the business.
Responsibilities:
• Supporting younger students during class
• Listening to students read
• Help students develop counting and number reading skills
• Guide students through their maths and English worksheets
• Keeping students focused and motivated in class
• Feedback on student’s work progress and class observations
• Marking classwork and recording homework
• Help set up tables, chairs and equipment before class, and packing away at the end of class
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment
• Answer phone calls
Requirements:
• Degree in Primary Education from a Cyprus or Greek State University
• Fluent in Greek
• Fluent in English
• Flexibility to arrange working hours during the week
• Positive and enthusiastic with children
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail when marking work and observing students
• Ability to learn new processes and concepts quickly
• Be able to work quickly and calmly in a fast-paced environment
• Be friendly and approachable
Starting date: February - March 2025
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: €20 per hour initially
Expected hours: Up to 10 per week initially
