Job description

This rooftop lounge restaurant in Nicosia is seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Mediterranean cuisine and a flair for fusion, bringing a creative twist to classic- or not so classic- dishes. As a key member of our culinary team, you will play a crucial role in menu development, kitchen management, and delivering exceptional contemporary dining experiences. The successful candidate will be closely working with the general management and owner.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Quality Control: Maintain rigorous quality control standards, including taste testing and presentation checks, to ensure consistency and excellence in every dish.

• Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

• Kitchen Operations: Manage kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering, handle budgets to optimize profitability and maintenance of equipment.

• Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. Estimate consumption, forecast requirements and maintain inventory.

• Customer Engagement: Engage with customers to receive feedback, understand preferences, and enhance their dining experience. Handle customer complaints and feedback professionally and effectively.

• Innovation: Stay up-to-date with culinary trends, experimenting with new ingredients and techniques to keep the menu fresh and exciting.

• Nurture a positive working environment.

• Plan and execute special events, promotions, and seasonal offerings and menus to attract and retain guests.

Requirements and qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Chef (preferably in Mediterranean or fusion cuisine) or similar role.

• Good knowledge of Greek and English Language.

• Extensive food and market knowledge, Mediterranean ingredients, cooking methods, and flavor profiles.

• Creative and innovative mindset, with the ability to develop unique and compelling dishes.

• Computer literacy

• Familiarity with restaurant management software.

• Experience in event planning.

• Strong leadership, motivational and people skills.

• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills.

• Team player.

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

• In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house food production management.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Great interpersonal and communication skills.

• Culinary school diploma or degree will be considered as an advantage.
