We are seeking an exceptionally talented and passionate MYP - ELL/EAL Teacher to join our dynamic teaching team. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of teaching experience (experience required in both ELL & EAL). Candidates should have native level of the language they will teach and be able to teach language and literature. As a qualified teacher, you will have experience in delivering the IB programme. You will be committed to developing personalised approaches to learning and experienced in the latest assessment methods. PLEASE APPLY by the link Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement differentiated language support programs to meet the diverse needs of students in acquiring academic English. - Support students in developing proficiency in the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English. - Provide tailored language interventions for students at various proficiency levels (beginner to advanced). - Foster a language-rich environment that encourages active participation in both social and academic contexts. - Collaborate with MYP subject teachers to integrate language support into their teaching plans, ensuring language learning is scaffolded within each subject area. - Offer guidance to subject teachers on effective strategies for supporting ELL/EAL students in the classroom, particularly in areas such as vocabulary development, academic language use, and assessment modifications. - Develop and deliver lessons aligned with the MYP framework, incorporating language acquisition strategies that support ELL/EAL students. - Adapt and modify the curriculum to ensure accessibility for non-native English speakers, while still maintaining academic rigor. - Promote an inquiry-based approach to learning that encourages critical thinking and language use. - Regularly assess ELL/EAL students’ language development and academic progress through formative and summative assessments. - Maintain detailed records of individual student progress, including language proficiency levels and academic performance, and share this information with relevant staff and parents. - Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where ELL/EAL students feel confident in using English in both social and academic settings. - Encourage students to develop self-regulation strategies and independent learning skills, particularly in relation to language acquisition. - Provide opportunities for students to reflect on their language learning journey and set personal language development goals. - Promote cultural awareness and respect in the classroom by integrating diverse perspectives and experiences. - Support students in navigating the cultural and social aspects of school life, helping them to build relationships with peers and teachers. - Ensure that teaching materials and activities reflect the multicultural nature of the school community and the global context of the IB curriculum. - Participate in ongoing professional development to stay informed of the latest research, teaching methodologies, and best practices in ELL/EAL education. - Contribute to the school’s overall language development strategies and participate in interdisciplinary teams focused on enhancing language acquisition for all students. - Engage with IB-specific training and updates to ensure alignment with the MYP language acquisition standards. - Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians of ELL/EAL students to update them on their child’s progress and provide recommendations for language support at home. - Work closely with school leadership to advocate for language learners and ensure resources are in place to support their needs. - Provide regular reports and participate in meetings regarding student performance, language development, and academic goals. - Create an inclusive learning environment by addressing the individual needs of students with varying language backgrounds and proficiency levels. - Provide additional support for students with learning differences or other challenges that impact their ability to learn English effectively. - Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) or language development plans as needed. What We’re Looking For: - Bachelor’s degree in English and Literature (Master would be desirable but not mandatory). A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, teaching credential) is preferred. - 4+ years of teaching experience in MYP/DP Mathematics and Physics. - Knowledge of best practices in second-language acquisition and assessment. - IB Certification: IB training and certification in MYP English and Literature Skills: - Ability to develop and implement engaging, inquiry-based lessons that promote language development within the context of the MYP. - Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to work closely with subject teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure the success of ELL/EAL students. - A flexible and adaptable approach to teaching, with a willingness to adjust to the evolving needs of students and the school community. - Strong knowledge of the MYP English and Literature curricula and assessment requirements. - Ability to inspire and engage students, creating a stimulating and inclusive learning environment. - Experience with differentiated teaching techniques to meet the diverse needs of students. - Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills. - Proficiency in using digital tools and technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience. - Fluent English Language (C1-C2).
